„Showraum Trofejas“ is an initiative of Giedre Bartelt with the help of Sabina Mlodzianowski. Giedre Bartelt endeavours promotion of east European design and art products in Germany. Undiscovered and so far not very known small projects get visibility and a proper presentation to a wider Berlin audience. For this initiative it is crucial the support of local east European manufacturers, which practise an ecological and economical sustainability and base their quality on old traditions and handicraft.

On 12th October 2012 – for the very first time – the project „Showroom Trofejas“ will open its premises in Wielandstraße 31 (Berlin-Charlottenburg) with an exclusive Pop-up-Show of textile design from Estonia. During this first show the latest creations of the Estonian designer Mare Kelpman will be presented. Her work has received several prizes and since 2010 she works under the name „kelpman textile“. There will be four fashion as well as home accessories collections demonstrated. The concept of the artist focuses on exceptional, valuable and useful. The limited small series consist almost exclusively of precious unique pieces, which are characterised by the high quality materials used, one of a kind processing of the materials and the individual design itself. The design products of Mare Kelpman could be described not only as classic elegant and long-lasting, but at the same time also as innovative. On one hand, the Estonian artist manufactures the traditional fibres like wool, linen and silk on high handicraft level, on the other, however, she experiments with the new technologies such like laser cutting to get precise patterns and ornaments. Particularly impressive is a broad spectrum of colours of the design objects: from intensive metal tones to light and delicately balanced autumn colours. It is this sensibility and sensuality of Kelpman’s textile from the cycle of four seasons deeply impresses and delights the audience. We are very looking forward to welcome you!
